Reflection Week 3

What?
Covering so much information on technology is overwhelming but fun. I thought I knew quite a lot about google and blogging. Through igoogle I try to streamline everything but it has posed difficulty in some areas like scheduling. I was excited to experience google calendar and google sites.

So what?
The google site we are making has so many good options for personalizing and correlating. Having a google site for my classroom would help me feel my responsibility to communicate with parents or absent students was easier. I like having everything in one place with easy references and links. Updating a classroom site shouldn't take long and should be beneficial to everyone involved. I would hope it would also cut paper correspondence and lack of student to parent information relay gap.

Now What?
Google docs is a great site for collaborating with other teachers. I don't see any reason to not work with other teachers in sharing information and lesson plans and this is a very easy way to do it. I feel that through current technology, namely blogs, google sites and docs, the school, classroom, and home can all be connected without communication errors or gaps. I will also use technology to store information. I think it will be much easier to plan each year and feel organized in planning and arranging lessons. Besides management and organization I think technology is very useful for teaching. There are so many resources in non traditional forms online that I believe could be very useful for multiple learning styles. One of these would be virtual field trips and science labs available online. There are additional means of enhancing learning in multiple fields which I will utilize in my classroom.
