Podcast Reflection

This week we were able to create a podcast through garageband. We uploaded our recording to our googlesite and were able to create the link to the service announcement.

Podcasts are an easy and reliable way to communicate information that doesn't have to be written. This can be announcements, emergency broadcasts, or even fun information or songs for the class members. Because the files are easily accessible, podcasts could be used to share through email, or post to sites for reference. Not only is creating podcasts valuable as a teacher, but students could easily create their own to share. Sharing with the class becomes a unique learning experience for students.

Using podcasts in teaching can promote a technical and unique learning experience. There are so many podcasts available online for students in a reading or music center. I am a firm believer in incorporating technology or other media means in teaching different subjects. This highlight also makes cooperating with other teachers fun. I think it would be cool for students to communicate through podcasts with students from other schools or even countries. It could be part of a unit on history, culture, or social studies. Kind of like a pen pal, but through speaking. There are so many options available through technology and the internet for enhances learning. I am glad that I was able to learn about another form of teaching I can easily implement into my students curriculum.
